Miscreants Open Fire, Throw Metal Objects at Puri-New Delhi Nandan Kanan Express in Odisha
Puri: An unidentified miscreants opened fire and threw metal objects at Puri-New Delhi Nandan Kanan Express on Tuesday. The incident took place between 9.00-9.30 am, when the train was passing through the Bhadrak Railway Station in Odisha.
”GRP and RPF escorted the train to Puri to ensure the safety of passengers. 4 teams including RPF, Police are engaged in the investigation, ” SK Bahinipati, Inchage, GRP Police Station Puri told news agency ANI.
The Railway Police have started an investigation into a shooting incident on the Nandankanan Express after the train guard issued a memo. Reportedly, no injuries have been reported.
Initial reports suggest that two bullets hit the window pane of a coach’s lavatory on the 12816 Nandankanan Express around 9:30 AM, while the train was travelling between the Bhadrak and Baudpur sections. Authorities are looking into the matter to determine the cause of the shooting.
Earlier, a two-foot-long wooden block was discovered on a railway track between Malihabad and Kakori railway station in Uttar Pradesh, disrupting the train services on October 24. The Bareilly-Varanasi Express (Train No.14236), struck the wooden block, weighing over six kg, which prompted the train driver or local pilot to apply emergency brakes to avoid an incident.
Train services were halted for nearly two hours to ensure safety and were resumed only after the obstruction was cleared from the tracks.
Following the incident, the station masters were alerted and a thorough check was conducted on the tracks. During the inspection, railway officials found another wooden block, raising concerns about possible sabotage to derail the train in Malihabad.
