Minor boy apprehended for stabbing mother’s live-in-partner

The Delhi Police on Sunday apprehended a minor boy for allegedly stabbing his mother’s live-in partner in Outer North Delhi the previous day.

The incident came to light when the police control room got a call from Shahbad Daulatpur on Saturday. Upon reaching the location, the police found that a man had sustained a few stab wounds and had already been shifted to Maharishi Valmiki Hospital. Upon reaching the hospital, they learned that the man had been referred to Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital for further treatment. At BSA Hospital, he was found undergoing treatment and was unconscious.

The police said an eyewitness provided a detailed account of the events. “The eyewitness stated that the man was in a live-in relationship with a divorced woman. Her son had repeatedly objected to the relationship and issued warnings to the man. On Saturday, the minor boy visited his shop, confronted him, and stabbed him after they had quarrelled,” said Nidhin Valsan, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Outer North Delhi.

Based on the eyewitness testimony, a case was registered for an attempt to murder. The police said the juvenile was apprehended within eight hours of the incident. Preliminary inquiries revealed that he was previously involved in another criminal case. Authorities have filed an application to the court concerned, requesting that the minor boy be tried as an adult.
