The Chandigarh Police has registered an FIR against five persons for allegedly selling eight fake tickets of a Diljit Dosanjh concert for Rs 8.22 lakh. Dosanjh’s concert was held in Sector 34, Chandigarh, on December 14, 2024.

The police have registered the FIR on the complaint of Sanskar Rawat, 21, a resident of Zirakpur.

Rawat alleged that he was introduced to the scam by his friend Parv Kumar. Parv claimed that he was part of a group selling official tickets for Dosanjh’s concert. He promised to provide 98 tickets, including 17 Fan Pit, 3 Silver, and 78 Gold tickets, to Rawat.Initially, Rawat paid Rs 43,000 for 12 tickets, but he never received them. The accused kept making excuses, saying the tickets would be available on December 11 in Sector 17, but they tickets failed to reach the complainant. Later, the accused took another amount of Rs 44,500 for 12 more tickets. This continued until Sanskar paid a total sum of Rs 8.22 lakh and only received eight fake tickets .

When the complainant reached the concert venue with these eight fake tickets, he discovered they were counterfeit, as the bouncers at the entry gate tore six of the tickets. He immediately filed a police complaint against the accused. The remaining two tickets were handed over to the  Chandigarr Police.

The complainant further revealed to the police that the accused strategically sent fake emails to make him believe that the tickets were real. Whenever he asked for the tickets, they would send fraudulent confirmation emails instead of actual tickets.

The police have now registered a case and launched an investigation to track down the accused and recover the scammed money
