2 killed, 1 injured after bike crashes into truck
A joy ride for a late-night meal in Murthal turned fatal for two young men after the motorcycle they were riding on rammed into a truck at Mahadev Chowk in Northwest Delhi’s Rohini in the early hours of Sunday.
The Delhi Police said among the three men who were returning from Murthal, two of them died, and the third is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
According to the police, they received a PCR call at around 4.20 am at the Shahbad Dairy Police Station regarding an accident. After the call, police and Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) staff reached the spot and found that the injured had been shifted to a hospital. They found an abandoned bike bearing a Delhi number at the location.
The men were later identified as Akash, 18, Subhash, 26, and Sanjay, 20. Subhash and Sanjay were declared dead during treatment, and Akash is undergoing treatment. The police said Akash was unfit for statement.
“Akash is a Class 10 dropout, Sanjay was in his second year of college, and Subhash worked with a private company. They were returning from Murthal on a bike. According to the preliminary enquiry so far, the bike collided with a truck at Mahadev Chowk. CCTV cameras of the route are being checked to ascertain the number of the work,” a senior police officer said.
In another accident reported from the Dwarka area, an e-rickshaw driver was killed after a car rammed into it. The police received a call about the accident at around 8.56 am, and the e-rickshaw driver was identified as Indrajit Malik, 64.
An eyewitness said a white car rammed into Malik’s e-rickshaw. Based on camera footage, the police have zeroed in on two cars, a Hyundai Creta and a Tata Punch. Further investigation is underway, they added.
