Delhi Police leverage advanced facial recognition technology to apprehend burglary suspect.

Using a new face recognition system (FRS) technology, the police on Friday said they had cracked a burglary case in which Rs 80,000 and gold jewellery were stolen from the house of a Shalimar Bagh resident on February 24.

The police identified the accused as Chandan (38), who was arrested on Tuesday. Stolen cash worth Rs 22,000 was found on him, they added. “Ashok Kapoor had returned home to find his home broken into… Rs 80,000 in cash and gold jewellery were missing,” said an officer.

While examining CCTV camera footage, the police found that two men on a scooter had broken into the house in the afternoon. The probe found that the vehicle was involved in another theft DCP (North West) Bhisham Singh said, “Our team succeeded in obtaining a clear picture of the suspect. With the help of our newly-implemented FRS technology in the North West District, the face of the suspect was matched with a person named Chandan… A raid was conducted and Chandan was arrested with Rs 22,000 in cash
