A temporary ceasefire has been reached in the Ukraine war that has been going on for the last three years after a long phone call between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. But the Russian President made Trump wait for a long time for this phone call.
Trump is busy fulfilling one of his election promises, a ceasefire in Ukraine. For which American officials have held discussions with Russian officials in Saudi Arabia. On the other hand, when Trump himself should have talked to the President of Russia, he did not show any eagerness for this and made the American President wait for about an hour.
According to Britain’s Express newspaper, Putin, who was at another event before the call, “laughed off warnings” that he was late for the call with Trump.

The Russian dictator was addressing the annual congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, including the country’s top officials, in Moscow. Russian media reports said the phone conversation between Trump and Putin was scheduled for between 4 pm and 6 pm. The leader of the organization, Alexander Shokhin, looking at his watch, said that Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov had set the time for the call before 6 pm.
After which Putin said, “Don’t listen to them! This is their job,” but he did not give any indication of leaving.
What did Putin show by delaying?
Making Trump wait for almost an hour on the phone call shows that Putin wants to present himself as strong in front of America and wants to signal that Russia is not keen on a ceasefire and can fight a long war. Experts believe that Putin doing so will help in getting a ceasefire on his terms.
