Commissioner Mahadev Kawre Takes Major Action: Two Accused of Illegal Drug Trade Sentenced to Three Months in Jail

Raipur, September 11, 2024: In a decisive and impactful action, Commissioner Mahadev Kawre (IAS) has taken stringent measures against two individuals involved in the illegal trade of narcotic drugs and cannabis in the Balodabazar-Bhatapara district of Chhattisgarh. The commissioner has sentenced the two accused to three months in jail in separate cases, underscoring the administration’s firm stance against drug-related crimes.

According to official orders, the accused, Ejaz Khan (son of Ahmed Khan), a resident of Bhawani Nagar, Simga, and Jwala Chaturvedi (son of Indraman Chaturvedi), a resident of Bhainsapara, Balodabazar, were charged by the Superintendent of Police, Balodabazar-Bhatapara, who presented a complaint against them. It was confirmed that both had engaged in the illegal trade of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. Following a thorough investigation of the case, it was determined that the involvement of the accused was undeniable.

During the investigation, Commissioner Mahadev Kawre recognized the gravity of the situation and swiftly decided to take action. He emphasized that such illegal activities have a detrimental impact on society and will not be tolerated under any circumstances. His order also noted that the accused are habitual traffickers of narcotic capsules, which poses a potential negative influence on their community.

After careful consideration of all facts and evidence, Commissioner Kawre decided to detain the accused, Ejaz Khan and Jwala Chaturvedi, under Section 10 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1988, for three months in the District Jail of Balodabazar.

This strict action by Commissioner Mahadev Kawre not only highlights the administration’s resolve against the illegal drug trade but also demonstrates that the Chhattisgarh government is seriously implementing a zero-tolerance policy toward drug-related offenses. Through this action, the commissioner has conveyed a strong message that he is committed to bringing about positive changes in society and will not tolerate any illegal activities.
