The Delhi Police Sunday arrested three men for allegedly robbing a man of Rs 16.25 lakh at knifepoint in Pul Prahladpur, and recovered stolen cash worth Rs. 10.65 lakh along with a knife and a motorcycle used in committing the crime.
Ravi Kumar Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East Delhi), said Monday Sunil Kumar, a cash collection agent from Tigri in Sangam Vihar, was going to his company to deposit Rs. 16.25 lakh he had collected from a grocery store in Badarpur at around 4.15 pm on November 30. Singh said two bike-borne men intercepted him near Kaya Maya Park on M B Road and robbed his bag containing cash at knifepoint.
Accordingly, an FIR was registered under sections 306(6) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the suspects were identified and arrested within hours by a team. The team was led by Dalip Singh, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations) and Ram Phool Meena, ACP Badarpur, and included Inspector Parmod Anand (Incharge Special Staff), Inspector Manoj (SHO Pul Prahladpur), and others.
During their probe, the police learnt that Arun, 23, a former loader at Udaan Grocery, orchestrated the robbery with the help of Shiv Kumar aka Shiva, 24, and Naresh, 30. “Arun was aware of Sunil’s routine and seized the opportunity to strike,” said Singh
Singh said Shiv was booked in cases of house theft previously, and Naresh was recently released from jail after serving seven years for a murder.
