Bengaluru police enforce 200-metre security perimeter around PUC and SSLC exam centers, effective immediately

The Bengaluru City Police have imposed restrictions around examination centres from Saturday to ensure the smooth and fair conduct of the 2025 Second Pre-University Course (PUC) and Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations.

As per the order issued by City Police Commissioner B Dayananda, a radius of 200 metres around the examination venues will be declared a prohibited area on exam days, with a ban on the operation of Xerox, cyber, and computer centres within the zone.

According to the directive dated February 28, the restrictions will be in place during the Second PUC Examination-1,scheduled from 1 march to march 20 across 171 centres  and the SSLC Examination-1, slated to be conducted from March 21 to April 4 at 325 centres across bengalure. The police have emphasised that strict action will be taken against those found violating the prohibitory orders. The move aims to curb any attempts at exam malpractices, unauthorised assistance, or distractions that could hinder students appearing for these crucial assessments.The decision follows a request from the Karnataka Board of School Examination and Valuation to ensure an environment free of disruptions or potential malpractice during the examinations. The order has been issued under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Protection Code which grants the commissioner the authority to impose restrictions for maintaining law and order.Authorities have urged students, parents, and local businesses to cooperate with the enforcement of these measures. The police will also deploy personnel to monitor compliance.
